An inventory appraisal also starts with a complete description of the workscope which includes the purpose of the appraisal and if an onsite visit is required. For a desktop appraisal the client must provide a detailed listing of all of the material that includes; part number, description, quantity, condition, and location. Many assumptions must be made during a desktop appraisal that can significantly impact the values returned.
It is the opinion of Zeus AV that every initial appraisal of an inventory should include an on site visit and a physical review of some portion of the inventory. In addition the review of sales data over a defined period is important to gauge the current viability of the material.
