An engine appraisal starts with a complete description of the workscope, which includes the purpose of the appraisal and if an onsite visit is required.  For a desktop appraisal the client normally provides a detailed specification disk sheet for the subject engine that includes; type, serial number, hours flown, cycles flown, times and cycles to major checks and information on other major quick engine change (QEC) components.  Many assumptions are made during a desktop appraisal that can significantly impact the values returned.

It is the opinion of Zeus AV that every initial appraisal for an engine should be a full on site appraisal.  This includes a complete maintenance records review, along with a status check on all Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins. The physical condition of the engine can also be reviewed via boroscope for interior engine damage and any deficiencies clearly noted.

An aircraft appraisal starts with a complete description of the workscope which includes the purpose of the appraisal and if an onsite visit is required.  For a desktop appraisal the client normally provides a detailed specification sheet for the subject aircraft that includes; type, registration number, serial number, hours flown, cycles flown, times and cycles to major checks, engines installed with details, apu installed and information on other major components.  Many assumptions are made during a desktop appraisal that can significantly impact the values returned.

It is the opinion of Zeus AV that every initial appraisal for an aircraft should be a full on site appraisal.  This includes a complete logbook and maintenance records review, along with a status check on all Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins. The physical condition of both the interior and exterior should be noted and any deficiencies clearly noted.

Aviation Auctions
Because aviation auctions are our full time business we have been able to develop a detailed and comprehensive Auction Method that works!

STEP 1: A complete and comprehensive advertising program.  It is not enough to attract a crowd to your Aviation sale, you need targeted, qualified, buyers.  Over the years we have developed the most complete name-by-name listing of qualified aviation buyers in the world.  This listing is updated on a weekly basis and contains buyers from all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Africa, and the Far East. An illustrated brochure is mailed / emailed to these buyers and gives you, the seller, the prospect of a larger monetary return.  We also place advertising in trade publications, newspapers, financial publications, and other appropriate media for maximum advertising effectiveness.  In short, we know which media to use, when to place the ads, and what to say about the sale.

STEP 2:
Detailed and complete sale setup. Attracting a large pool of qualified buyers is not enough to ensure a successful aviation auction.  The manner in which your assets are displayed plays a key role in the Starman Bros. Auctions, Inc. Auction Method.  Our staff of experienced setup personnel are trained in the proper way to setup an aviation auction.  This setup stage is one of the most important steps to enhancing the value of your assets. While detailed and time consuming our experience has taught us it is a necessary step to assure you the best return.

Step 3:
Qualified sales force and support equipment. Our auctioneers are experienced veterans of scores of aviation auctions.  Starman Bros. auctioneers know the marketability of you material along with current market values and recent liquidation amounts.  We own and operate a completely self-contained mobile field office.  This office is staffed by experienced personnel and is equipped to register buyers, verify credit lines, and settle accounts all with state of the art computerized information system equipment.

Step 4:
Follow Up! Starman Bros. Auction services do not end the day of the sale.  We provide auction site cleanup and organized check out.  We complete the process with a detailed accounting of the sale.  All done in a timely fashion.  It is this type of professional service that has earned Starman Bros. Auctions the reputation as the leader in the field of Aviation Auctions.  We can help call today!

An inventory appraisal also starts with a complete description of the workscope which includes the purpose of the appraisal and if an onsite visit is required.  For a desktop appraisal the client must provide a detailed listing of all of the material that includes; part number, description, quantity, condition, and location.  Many assumptions must be made during a desktop appraisal that can significantly impact the values returned.

It is the opinion of Zeus AV that every initial appraisal of an inventory should include an on site visit and a physical review of some portion of the inventory.  In addition the review of sales data over a defined period is important to gauge the current viability of the material.

Appraisals are a professional opinion of value from an unbiased, competent individual or company acting as an appraiser.  While acting as an appraiser the individual is required to follow the standards provided by USPAP (The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice).  USPAP forms a framework that all appraisers use to arrive at their opinions of value. Everything from defining the client, assignment, scope of work, competency, methods of valuation, to the presentation of the results is clearly set forth.

The process is as follows:

  • The client is identified, if the appraisal is defined as restricted the report is limited to the client only
  • The assignment details are discussed between the client and the appraiser.  From this discussion the general framework of the workscope and results are set forth
  • The appraiser begins the assignment by developing the detailed workscope.  This will be an iterative process that examines and performs the different approaches to value - sales comparative, cost, and income - and decide if each is appropriate for the assignment.
  • Produce the report and generate the detailed work files.
  • Provide the client with a report that includes the opinion of value.
